I will be leading a casual ride to see the irises at Big Branch March National Refuge; at most it will be a 25 mile roundtrip.  If you want to walk the boardwalk and/or Boy Scout Trail, I suggest you bring walking shoes of some type.

We will meet at 9 AM at the Mandeville Trailhead south of Hwy. 190, just off Hwy. 59.  The Mandeville Trailhead Market will be happening, so I suggest you park in the reserve parking area.   I have a silver Honda Odyssey and ride a silver Cannondale touring bike.  If you can’t find me in the parking lot, I will be at the trailhead rest room area for 9 AM.

FYI:  The Northlake Nature Center is hosting “Louisiana Iris Bloom Celebration” on March 30th (same day as our ride) from 9 AM to 2 PM.  You can stroll the boardwalk to see the irises (I’m told it is the place to be).  The Greater New Orleans Iris Society will be there to answer questions, sell irises, as well as have books for sale.  The Mandeville Rotary will be providing and “Outdoor Café” and for $5.00 you can enjoy coffee/tea, sweet confections from local bakeries and hot dogs.  Nature photographer John Paul Duet will be on site with images of irises and birds for you to bring home.
